Word choice |
Do my words convey my thoughts? |
Word Choice is the use of rich, colourful, exact language that communicates the main idea but also helps the reader to use their imagination to get the most out of the text. In descriptive writing, you would use strong word choice to describe images and make descriptions seem as real or tangible as possible. In persuasive writing, purposeful word choice helps the reader to consider new ideas or perspectives. In all modes of writing figurative language such as metaphors, similes and analogies bring out the best of the content of your writing. When choosing words carefully it is not always best to choose the most fancy words or the longest words. Using simple words well can go along way in your writing.
